From Backyard Idea to Bacon Bash Texas

In 2012, a handful of friends met at the Horny Toad Bar & Grill in Cranfills Gap to celebrate two of their favorite things: bacon and community. The group realized their love for bacon could do good by helping kids with Type 1 Diabetes and keeping Texans warm through Niki Warms the Cold, founded in memory of Niki Carlson. More than a decade later, that small idea has become Texas’s biggest bacon festival with 30 cook-off teams, live music, cold beer, and over $1 million raised for families across the state.

Our Mission

Bacon Bash Texas exists to turn good times into good deeds — raising funds and awareness for children living with Type 1 Diabetes and for Texans in need of warmth and hope. Since 2015, we’ve raised over $1,000,000, funded 173 scholarships, and provided hundreds of coats, blankets, and CGM monitors to families across Texas.
