
Bacon Apple Fried Pies with Caramel Sauce

Ingredients
- Either store-bought or homemade pie crust
For filling
- 1/4 C unsalted butter
- 1/4 C granulated sugar
- 2 lg Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and chopped (about 2 C)
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 Tbsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
- 12 strips Pederson's bacon (cooked and chopped)
For caramel sauce
- 1 lb butter
- 1 lb brown sugar
- 1 C heavy cream
- 2 Tbsp Applejack bourbon
For filling
- 1. Add all ingredients in a pan and cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes. Set aside to cool
- 2. Roll out the pie crust dough about 1/8 inch thick and cut into 4 inch circles
- 3. Place about 1 Tbsp filling in center, sprinkle with bacon bits, fold in half and press edges with a fork.
- 4. Place in hot oil until golden brown
- 5. Drizzle with sauce and bacon bits and serve with vanilla ice cream
